“Let us make our elderly into strong and productive elderly so that the elderly aged 60 to 70 years can be independent and can take care of themselves and do not burden their family members. All of that needs our help to be healthy and prosperous_Tukinah”

D3 Midwifery Study Programme of Alma Ata – Elderly is a term for someone who has reached the age of 60 years and over. At this age, the aging process will have an impact on various aspects, especially health aspects (Perpres No. 88, 2021). We as the younger generation should start preparing for a healthy old age from now on, starting with diet, adequate rest, and a healthy lifestyle. Regarding the elderly themselves, of course, several things should be done, such as “Improving the Quality of Life of the Elderly”, and this can be done with various concepts and interventions. Talking about “Concepts and Interventions” there are several points to be done by an elderly person, and of course, it is contained in a book entitled “Improving the Quality of Life of the Elderly Concepts and Interventions”. This is the task for us (the younger generation), especially prospective health workers, to then be used as a field survey to convey these concepts to the elderly, and also as research to find out how far the quality of life of the elderly is.

Bina Keluarga Lansia or BKL (Elderly Family Training), is one of the important programmes in improving the welfare of the elderly. As has been done (7/11), community midwifery practice students had succeeded in forming Tri-Bina consisting of BKB, BKR, and BKL, as well as PIK-R. BKL is one form of community service that has been successfully pioneered by midwifery students from Alma Ata University. And as a form of appreciation for the enthusiasm of the community, practising students gave souvenirs in the form of elderly examination health tools, which were handed over at the Tri-Bina launching ceremony as well as the closing of community practice in Mrisi hamlet, Tirtonirmolo sub-district, Kasihan, Bantul.
