Ners Professional Students together with the Ners Professional Education Study Program at Alma Ata University initiated the BKL (Bina Keluarga Lansia) program in Botokan Hamlet, Argosari Village, Sedayu District, Bantul Regency.
Alma Ata University Professional Ners Students consists of Sofi Aryani, Wijayanto, Rasniaty, Churnia, Ristiawan, Esti Wuryani, Rijab, Tia Indah initiated the BKL program, namely community empowerment activities which is carried out in groups with the aim of increasing knowledge and skills for families who have parents or elderly. The BKL program in Botokan village was formed through cross-sector cooperation and cross-programs of Puskesmas Sedayu 1, Argosari, Botokan, Elderly Cadres, Community Leaders and Hamlet Residents Botokan. December 30, 2020 was the inauguration of BKL Melati. Student representatives conveyed the purpose of holding the BKL program to residents, announced the organizational structure of BKL Melati, and at the same time provided tools: digital sphygmomanometer, booklet on hypertension prevention guidelines and blood pressure checks to the head of BKL Melati. The initiation of the BKL Program is carried out as a manifestation of the active role of the Alma Ata University Professional Ners study program in Implementing the vision and mission of the study program in relation to community service.
The challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic which made the elderly posyandu service in Botokan Village have not been implemented, triggered the concern of professional students who run community technology practices to Forming community empowerment efforts in improving the health status of the elderly , especially those who have hypertension. Through good cross-sector and cross-program coordination efforts, the BKL Melati program can be established. At this early stage, students provide training to residents so that they can take independent blood measurements for the elderly, so that the blood pressure of the elderly can still be monitored to then be reported to the elderly posyandu cadres.
With the establishment of the BKL Melati management structure, it is hoped that the BKL program can be continued by Botokan residents and get support from various parties for the sustainability and improvement of the BKL Melati program.
