S1 Nursing Science Alma Ata – Neonatal Mortality Rate (AKN) poses a significant child health challenge, and Indonesia is ranked among the top ten countries globally with this issue. Instances of neonatal deaths are strongly linked to suboptimal care for new-borns after delivery. A lack of community knowledge regarding proper neonatal care serves as a barrier in this regard. The pivotal role of health cadres becomes apparent, and it can be enhanced through empowerment initiatives like training in neonatal care management.

The activity “Community Services: Neonate Nursing Management Training” was held by Prodi Ners FIKES University of Alma Ata in partnership with Puskesmas Kasihan 2 Bantul. Anafrin Yugistyowati, M.Kep., Sp. Kep.An directed the activity, which included two other professors, Wahyuningsih, M.Kep, and Erni Samutri, M.Kep, as well as five students from ProdiNers University of Alma Ata. The activity lasted two days, from June 8 to June 9, 2021, and was attended by 73 health cadres.

The activity took place for 2 days from 8-9 June 2021 and was attended by 73 health cadres. Healthcare personnel receive basic neonatal care management training materials such as: 1) Roles and duties of healthcare cadres; 2) Recognizing signs of neonate threat and infection and immediate reference; 3) How to bath the baby correctly; 4) How to treat the wire; 5) Initiation of premature breastfeeding; 6) How to keep the baby warm (KMC); 7) How to breastfeed, store milk and breast-feed the baby; 8) As well as Vitamin A and immunization.
