UAA Pharmacy Study Programme Supports the Competency Competition for Pharmacy Students throughout DIY

Alma Ata Pharmacy Study Program – The Bachelor of Pharmacy Study Program at Alma Ata University (UAA) in collaboration with the Office of Youth Education and Sports and the Yogyakarta Special Region Pharmacy Department Teacher Consultation (MGMP) organised a Student Competency Competition (LKS) which was attended by all Pharmacy Department Vocational Schools throughout Yogyakarta. This activity was held on 18-19 May 2022 at Alma Ata University Yogyakarta which is located at Jalan Brawijaya No.99 Tamantirto, Kasihan, Bantul Regency.

There were 18 vocational schools in Yogyakarta that participated in the Student Competency Competition (LKS). In the competition, each SMK sent representatives of their students to compete in several forms of competition including scientific papers writing, cognitive tests, pharmaceutical preparations in the laboratory, and pharmaceutical product presentations.

“In addition to supporting students of the Department of Pharmacy in SMK to continue to excel, this activity also aims to measure and appreciate the skills of SMK students, especially in the field of pharmacy in accordance with the established curriculum,” said Dr. Yhona Paratmanitya, S.Gz., MPH, RD, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences UAA. The cooperation between SMK Department of Pharmacy and universities is very supportive in creating competent pharmacy graduates and supporting national health. Pharmaceutical workers are currently much needed in the community to provide information – information related to the proper use of drugs to patients.

In supporting and creating graduates of pharmaceutical personnel who are competent and ready to work after graduation, the UAA Bachelor of Pharmacy Study Program always tries to provide provisions to students in the form of theory and field practice in fields such as hospitals, pharmacies, pharmaceutical industries, traditional medicine industries and health centres. Thus graduates will more easily adjust to the world of work.
